Ford used the same fuel pump on both the two, and four wheel drive Sierra Cosworth cars. It is externally mounted, and placed below the fuel tank, as this type of pump requires to be gravity fed. This pump has sufficient extra capacity to supply the fuel delivery requirements of all but the highest-powered engine conversions. If a higher capacity fuel pump is required, GGR carry a range of higher flow rate pumps in stock. The Escort Cosworth fuel pump is a different matter however.

This pump is fitted inside the tank, and submerged within the fuel. The unit that has been used is actually the seme pump as fitted to the 1600 cc fuel injected Escort cars, and Cosworth Engineering consider its capacity to be marginal, even on a standard car.

It is therefore essential that if an Escort Cosworth is given anything other than a mild boost increase, the fuel pump is upgraded to suit. GGR offer a direct replacement, exchange fuel pump / tank unit, using a 195 litre / hour pump, (No. GGRFPK). This has sufficient capacity for even the wildest road convrsion!
